Weight Update

We have made many trips to the doctor in the past 2 weeks getting Josiah's weight checked. On Sept. 11th he was back up to 6 lbs. Then on September 15th he was up to 6 lbs. 3 oz. He remained there until our appointment on Friday, September 19th, at which time he dropped down to 6 lbs. So the doctor had us supplement formula after each breastfeeding session. We went back for a weight check Monday, September 22nd and Josiah had gained 12 oz. over the weekend. YEAH! So we are working on increasing my milk supply. He is also slepping better now that he is getting a full tummy. Before he would wake after 30 mintutes if we layed him down. Now he will sleep 2-3 hours. He also is more awake and alert for longer periods of time. Here are a couple of recent pictures:

Josiah's first outing to Spencer's football game ... he slept the entire time.

Here are a couple of pictures of Spencer playing football. He is doing great. He has made several touchdowns this year. So far his team's record is 2 wins - 1 loss.

First Visit to the Doctor

Josiah now weighs 5 lbs., 12 oz., which is two ounces less than his weight on the day he was discharged from the hospital (he truly is our little peanut). Weight loss is to be expected for babies who are breast-fed. The doctor says he's in perfect health and is strong for his size (he tried to crawl across the changing table when she put him on his stomach). He feeds continuously, so we expect his weight to increase rapidly. We are blessed to have such a healthy baby!

Home

We were able to come home from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. It has been nice being at home because we are able to relax and rest more. Josiah is doing well, and has his first baby check-up with the pediatrician is on Tuesday. Danielle is still sore but up and moving about. Here are a few other pictures that we have taken of our precious bundle of joy.

Baby Josiah is Here!

He's here! Josiah, named after the Old Testament King of Israel, arrived at 10:16 A.M. Weighing in at 6 lbs., 5 oz., and measuring 17 1/2 inches, this little bundle of joy has a bottom lip that will melt the hardest of hearts. Danielle is recovering from what she describes the c-section as being a painless (so far) procedure, quick and relativley easy. She knows the hardest part is the recovery. Josiah is also recovering well. He successfully nursed within an hour of being born and has been sleeping off and on all day, even while he was making the circuit visiting family members and friends. We are so thankful for our families and friends who have supported and encouraged us nonstop. Danielle and I want to share with you some of the highlights, so we've posted a handful of photos:

Proud parents to be .... just waiting!
